The Vocational Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution offered at Bower Place provides students with a unique opportunity to develop family dispute resolution skills in the context of a working clinic. Forty, three hour, weekly sessions are held in the Bower Place Complex Needs Clinic where students take the roles of observer, co-mediator and where appropriate, mediate for clients who attend the clinic. Material observed within the clinic is then identified by students and supervisor and students directed to relevant theoretical material. Assessments are designed to flow naturally from this material and the students in room clinical experience.
This qualification applies to community work delivered through a broad range of services which provide support to enable the resolution of disputes between individuals.
This qualification is a specialist qualification designed to support the practice of mediation and co mediation across abroad range of agencies, communities in the provision of services.
Workers at this level are required to have understanding of various diverse cultures to work with local communities in the provision of services.
This qualification consists of 15 units, 12 compulsory and 3 electives.

This qualification applies to workers who are employed in a family and/or couples relationship counselling role. This qualification has particular relevance to counsellors working in independently or in organisations, providing counselling interventions, (rather than counselling support), for families and/or couples experiencing relationship issues of a complex nature.
Counselling contexts may include pre- or post- separation and divorce or where the client has involvement with the Family Law system. Counsellors at this level are making high level, independent, complex judgements in highly specialised contexts.
Counselling occupations may also involve full responsibility and accountability for all aspects of work of self and others and functions including, program planning, budget, strategy, design and analysis.
The Graduate Diploma in Family Therapy & Systemic Practice is a specialised professional, clinical, training programme in systemic practice and Family therapy designed for psychologists, social workers, medical practitioners, counsellors, educators, psychotherapists, nurses, occupational therapists, and other helping professionals. The course emphasises clinical practice and supervision and is ideally suited to practitioners interested in developing systemic family practice knowledge and clinical skill.
On completion of this course, students should be able to:

- Describe the relationship between a systemic approach and the personal relationship and moral difficulties experienced by clients
- Describe the way in which a systemic approach is applied to individuals, couples, families, or wider systems
